The pre-winter wheat fallow is often neglected. Maintaining corn or sorghum residues, along with wheat residue, on the soil surface will improve the probability of a successful winter wheat crop. Water filtration is improved, evaporation is reduced, and there is an increased amount of water in the soil at planting.
