Drinking Water

G1333
Published 2023

Lead rarely occurs naturally in drinking water. Most lead contamination occurs within the water delivery system. This occurs as a result of corrosion, the reaction between the drinking water and lead that has been used to construct parts of the water delivery system. Materials in the water delivery system which may contain lead include service connections, pipes, solder, and brass fixtures.
