Peppers are a warm-season annual vegetable crop for Nebraska gardens. They are classified as sweet or pungent and are availabile in various shapes, sizes and colors. Although mainly raised for human consumption, they can be grown as ornamentals in containers or among flowers.
Sweet peppers are mild in flavor and are available in many different colors. Bell types are one of the most popular for home gardens.
Pungent pepprs are hot and are used in making chili or similar dishes.
Ornamental peppers generally should not be eaten.
