Ruminants should not be fed prohibited animal proteins. Do not feed cattle, sheep, goats, bison, elk or deer feeds manufactured for non-ruminant species because these feeds may contain prohibited animal proteins. This will help prevent the spread of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE, often referred to as mad cow disease. Keep copies of labels and invoices for all purchased feeds that contain animal proteins for at least one year.
