More than 100 species of perennial grasses are adapted to and grown in Nebraska. They are classified as either cool-season or warm-season grasses. Ideal grazing systems use both cool-season and warm-season grasses in separate pastures.
A Major Land Resource Area map identifies these areas within the state and tables of information indicate which grasses are best suited to which areas, partly based on soil and moisture in that area.
