Stormwater causes many pollutants such as sediment, nutrients, bacteria, heavy metals and others to reach surface water. Contaminants are carried by stormwater from pavement, yards and gardens. We need to reduce the effects that stormwater runoff has on the enviroment. There are maintenance activities that everyone can do to reduce pollutant loading and stormwater runoff from homes and lots.

Some stormwater risks can be controlled by making changes to buildings, paved areas, soil surfaces and other landscaping features.
