Use the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate for healthy eating when dining out. This publication offers a variety of tips and strategies for eating healthily when eating out. Eat a variety of foods from the basic food groups: grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, and meat and beans.
Choose a diet that is low in saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol and moderate in total fat. Choose beverages and foods to moderate your intake of sugar. Choose and prepare foods with little salt. If you drink alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation.
