Like our own health, farm health is difficult to define or measure because farms differ in many ways. Many describe a healthy farm as one that is economically viable and ecologically responsible, with clean water and air, green fields, abundant fish and wildlife populations, and with safe places for family recreation and enjoyment. Others might describe a healthy farm as one that is managed in a way to increase the benefits of nature to the farm and local communities. In this publication, "healthy" is used in a general sense, and helps farmers define their specific vision of what is healthy for their farm.
