Bacterial Wilt of Dry Beans in Western Nebraska

G1562
Published 2011

Bacterial wilt of dry beans has re-emerged extensively throughout dry bean production areas, in part due to reduced tillage and more center pivots in production fields. It is being hypothesized that the combination of environmental stress, changes in cultural practices, and unfamiliarity with the disease all contributed to the high visibility and increased incidence of this disease in the Central High Plains within the last eight years.
