Milk Urea Nitrogen Testing

G1661
Published 2007

Milk urea nitrogen (MUN) testing can be a useful, economical and easy tool to flag potential nutrition-related problems in dairy herds. High MUN values may reflect excessive dietary crude protein or low rumen degradable nonfiber carbohydrates. MUN may allow dairy producers to better manage their feeding programs and to minimize nitrogren excretion into the environment.
