Growing or backgrounding weaned calves prior to entering the feedlot for finishing may be done for a variety of reasons. Methods vary and the method that best meets a producer's goal wil depend on a number of factors, including cattle genetics, cattle weight, available feed resources, facilities, future grazing plans and timing of marketing, among others.
