Downy Mildew of Sunflower in Nebraska

Downy mildew of sunflower is caused by the obligate fungal pathogen, Plasmopara halstedii, that infects young plants through roots as a soilborne pathogen. Yield losses occur through plant death, lighter and fewer seeds, and lowered oil content.
